ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s armed forces on Wednesday said they had brought down two “rudimentary drones” launched from Afghanistan, with the aircraft intercepted about seven kilometers from Kohat city in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
According to security sources, the drones were shot down using a “soft-kill” method, which disables or disrupts an unmanned aircraft without physically destroying it.
“Security forces shot down by soft kill two rudimentary drones fired by the Afghan Taliban regime seven kilometers from Kohat city,” the sources said.
The sources added that Pakistan’s air-defense systems remain on heightened vigilance around the clock, describing the readiness as part of efforts to counter what they referred to as threats emanating from “Kharjistan,” a term used by Pakistani security officials to describe hostile elements operating from Afghan territory.
