ISLAMABAD: Islamabad’s administration has requested an extension of the deployment of Pakistan Rangers in the federal capital through Oct. 15, as authorities prepare for a planned Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) long march beginning Oct. 4.
The request seeks to extend the Rangers’ presence from Oct. 5 to Oct. 15, reflecting heightened security preparations ahead of the opposition party’s planned demonstration.
Authorities have begun placing hundreds of shipping containers at key locations to restrict protesters’ entry into the capital. Additional personnel from the Punjab and Sindh police have also been deployed as the administration moves to reinforce security ahead of the march
