Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has pledged closer cooperation with the federal government, saying the province would set aside its differences with Islamabad and work alongside other provinces as a unified national unit.

Mr. Kundi said the provincial administration had launched a drive to improve cleanliness and remove illegal encroachments, beginning in Peshawar. He added that no recommendations or political influence would be allowed to interfere with the operation.

The governor said an inquiry had also been launched into the disappearance of wheat allocated to the province. Authorities would establish how the wheat went missing and publish their findings soon, he said.

On development spending, Mr. Kundi pledged to prioritise projects with tangible public benefits and curb alleged financial irregularities. He said multiple departments had previously raised bills for development work and vowed that public funds would not be misappropriated.

He also announced plans to improve traffic management through revised regulations and camera-based monitoring. A meeting had been convened to address traffic enforcement, while the new system was expected to resolve complaints related to traffic fines, he said.

Addressing prolonged power outages, Mr. Kundi said he would meet officials of the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) to discuss the issue. He also vowed action against electricity theft, saying consumers would be expected to pay their bills.

The governor expressed confidence that electricity and gas supply issues would be resolved soon, adding that the province would pursue cooperation rather than confrontation with the federal government.

“We will move forward with the federal government and stand on the same page as all provinces,” Mr. Kundi said, adding that future relations would be based on unity rather than disagreement.
