Foreign investment in the Indian stock market has fallen to its lowest level in 17 years, as international investors increasingly turn cautious about the country’s equities, Bloomberg reported.
The global financial publication said a number of international companies had significantly reduced their exposure to Indian shares, with some reportedly bringing their investments down to zero.
According to the report, investors are pulling capital from the Indian market amid concerns over limited opportunities in the artificial intelligence sector and comparatively low returns.
The development comes as global investors reassess their exposure to Indian equities, raising questions over the market’s ability to sustain its appeal among international companies.
