US Vice President JD Vance has confirmed that the United States has been in direct contact with Yemen’s Houthi movement, according to British media reports.
Media reports said the Houthis assured Washington that the ceasefire reached in 2025 would remain in place.
During the communication, the Houthis reportedly told the US that American naval vessels in the Red Sea were not their targets, while ships linked to Saudi Arabia were considered potential targets.
Meanwhile, the United States expressed concern over the Houthis’ advances in Yemen but did not provide military assistance to Saudi Arabia, according to the reports.
The United States designated the Houthis as a Foreign Terrorist Organization in March 2025.
