KALAT BALOCHISTAN: Security forces killed five terrorists and recovered 23 kidnapped individuals during an operation near Kalat along the N-25 Karachi-Chaman Highway, the military’s media wing, ISPR, said Sunday.
According to ISPR, terrorists affiliated with what the state calls Fitna-al-Hindustan had established a checkpost on the highway on the night of September 18-19 to abduct people for ransom, extort money and seize vehicles.
Security forces responded and, following an exchange of fire, killed five terrorists, the statement said. Twenty-three abductees were rescued from a hideout, while six trucks, three buses and two cars were also recovered.
Security forces also seized weapons, ammunition and explosives, while sanitisation operations were continuing in the surrounding areas to eliminate any remaining militants and secure the highway.
ISPR said counter-terrorism operations would continue under the Azm-i-Istehkam framework to address what it described as foreign-sponsored and supported terrorism.
