Ishaq Dar Blames Return of Militants for Pakistan’s Security Crisis, Points to PTI Figures

Must read

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar said the return of militants to Pakistan had triggered a renewed wave of security problems, alleging that some Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) figures were responsible.

Speaking at a joint sitting of Parliament, Mr. Dar questioned who had reopened the border to allow members of a banned militant organisation to enter the country and who had secured the release of militants from prison.

He also questioned which government had authorised the release of the detainees, arguing that Pakistan’s security challenges began after the militants returned.

Mr. Dar urged authorities to confront terrorism, warning that failure to address the threat now would raise questions about when the country intended to act.
