ISLAMABAD: Hospitals in the federal capital have been placed on high alert amid calls by political parties for protests and marches in Islamabad.
According to a notification issued by the federal government, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) and Polyclinic have been directed to remain on high alert. Leave for heads of medical and non-medical departments has also been suspended.
Doctors, nurses, paramedics and support staff have been instructed to ensure their availability during the period.
The development comes as Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a march in Islamabad against inflation and calling for a reduction in the petroleum levy. Its workers are expected to travel to the capital by train from different cities.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has also announced a protest in Islamabad for September 27.
