The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to grant administrative and police officers posted in designated districts a security risk allowance equivalent to 250% of their basic salary, according to a Finance Department document.
The allowance will take effect from July 1, 2026, the document said.
Eligible districts include Khyber, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Kohat, Hangu, Karak, Kurram and Orakzai, as well as Bannu, Lakki Marwat, North Waziristan, Dera Ismail Khan, Tank, Swat, Buner, Shangla, Bajaur, Lower and Upper Dir, and Chitral. Peshawar has been excluded from the list.
The allowance will be subject to taxation and will not count toward pension or gratuity calculations, according to the document. It will also cease when an officer is transferred from an eligible posting.
