60% of U.S. Voters Say Decision to Go to War With Iran Was Wrong: Poll

WASHINGTON: Six in 10 registered voters in the United States say the decision to launch military action against Iran was wrong, according to a new Fox News poll, as opposition to the conflict edges higher from June.

The survey found that 60% of voters regarded the decision to go to war with Iran as the wrong choice, compared with 37% who said it was the right decision. In June, 58% had described the decision as wrong.

The poll also found that 71% of U.S. voters believe the Trump administration does not have a clear strategy for ending the conflict with Iran.

Views differed sharply along party lines. Some 95% of Democrats said the administration lacked a clear strategy, compared with 83% of independent voters and 43% of Republicans.

Americans also expressed concern about the war’s potential long-term impact on U.S. security. Forty-seven percent said the conflict would make the United States less safe in the long run, while 32% said it would make the country safer.

The findings reflect growing public concern over the direction of the conflict and the administration’s plans for bringing U.S. military involvement to an end.
