Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman criticised the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), saying the party had imposed governor’s rule in various provinces despite portraying itself as a champion of democracy.
Addressing the Mufti Mahmood Conference in Multan, Mr. Fazl said powerful groups had undermined democracy throughout the country’s history.
The PPP calls itself a democratic party, he said, but had imposed governor’s rule whenever it was introduced in different provinces.
