Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has announced the launch of direct flights between Peshawar and Lahore from November 9, coinciding with Iqbal Day.
Speaking about the initiative, Kundi said air connectivity between the two cities was being restored in collaboration with South Airways.
He said the journey between Peshawar and Lahore would take approximately 50 minutes to one hour, with four weekly flights initially operating on the route.
The first flight from Peshawar to Lahore is scheduled to depart at around 1pm on November 9, the governor added.
He said the service would facilitate residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa living in Lahore, as well as businesspeople and employees travelling between the two cities.
Kundi said direct flights between Peshawar and Quetta were already operating successfully, adding that the frequency of Peshawar-Lahore flights would be increased in the future.
He also revealed that efforts were underway to explore air connectivity with Dir, Dera Ismail Khan, Chitral and Parachinar.
The governor said further measures would be taken to connect different parts of the province through air services.
